Not Lost Forever

Recently, as I attempted to organize some of my older blog posts into newly created labels, I accidentally deleted one of my favorite posts. This post, titled Treat Her Well, featured an Animoto of my daughter. While I still had the Animoto (it is saved in my Animoto account and on my computer), I had lost the written portion of my post. I cringed at the thought of trying to rewrite it because much time and thought had been put into this post and I didn't know if I could adequately recreate the original. After a period of, well, freaking out, I took a breath and decided that I would just ask my technology instructor what to do. After all, she was the one who had taught me that almost everything on the internet has a history of activity. I was confident that she'd have the solution to my problem. Unfortunately, she was just as stumped as I was! That night after class, I went home feeling defeated. Yet, over the next few days, I couldn't bring myself to begin rewriting my post. I was convinced that there had to be a way to locate my original. And you know what? There was! By simply typing the question "How do I recover a deleted blogger post?" into the Google search engine, I was greeted with a slew of instructional websites. I ended up clicking on the link for the Supportive Hands: Helping Internet Newbies website. On this site was a post written by Rehmat Alam. The post was titled How to Restore Deleted Blogger Blog Posts. This post proved to be a godsend as it led me through, step by step, the process of recovering my deleted post. I must admit, some of Alam's instructions required use of my critical thinking skills. I even had to ask my husband to help me make sense of Alam's technological jargon. But, in the end, I found my post and was able to put it right back into my blog. While the original comments had been lost, the most important content remained in tact. And me? Well I was left feeling like a techie superhero. Just goes to show that, when it comes to the internet, nothing is lost forever.
